Sivasri Chatirable Trust is an NGO based in Bangalore, founded in 2001 by a small group of professionals from various disciples, with the goal to improve the state of public education system. It's project "Sikshana", is an attempt to evolve a sustainable and replicable model to improve the quality of education in public school system. The project aims to enhance the learning levels of the kids in schools through various innovative approaches.Here, the NGO acts as a facilitator in helping schools identify their problems and come up with their own solutions. Through this decentralized mechanism and resulting empowerment of schools, Sikshana has been very successful in achieving improving education in government schools. Currently they are in their second year of Phase III, where they are implementing their model in 120 schools in Kanakapura taluk near Bangalore. AID has been a proud supporter of Sikshana for the last 5 years.
