Mandra Lion's Club's livelihood generation project in Purulia district will set up a financially and socially viable goat farm which will acquire a local stock of goats to start a breeding program. This program will provide further livestock, meat and other products, the proceeds of which will be used primarily to support Mandra Lion Club's ongoing malaria control program. In addition, surplus goats will be given to nearby villagers who can then breed them and/or sell their products as they wish. Local beneficiaries will be trained in breeding and other relevant techniques. With the farm aiming to be financially solvent in three years, AID is supporting the local community develop a sustainable source of income.
